A Relationship with a Man I Never Knew through the Products He Made

The first Apple product I ever used was this one. I played Peter and the Wolf on it. Maybe it was the game, maybe it was the computer, but whatever it was, it sealed my fate. I would forever be in love with Steve Jobs’ company.

Over the years, as I wasn’t the one in charge of the computer purchases in my home, I split from Apple products. We had a Compaq, an HP, probably something else in between. But, I always remembered Peter and the Wolf.

Besides, Steve Jobs was still in my life.

Then, I went to college and brought an iBook with me. I will never own another type of computer ever again.

I didn’t get the original iPhone. I waited until the 4. I’m not sure why. Partially, it was because I didn’t think I was ready for it. I wanted the experience to be perfect. I needed it to be perfect. When I finally got my iPhone, it was. Maybe I’ll get the new one, but I don’t think I will. I’m in a relationship with this one. We have a nice thing going.

I also didn’t get the original iPad, but then the iPad 2 came out and I realized I couldn’t not get it. Even if it wasn’t, I like to think that it was Steve Jobs’ last product. Something about that makes me feel good.

These are just some poorly written thoughts that come to mind on October 5, 2011. It’s a day that I think a lot of us will remember.

Steve Jobs changed our lives. He changed our lives for the better.

He made the computer accessible and then he put it in our pocket. All the while, he did it with courage and a sly smile.

A lot is going to be written about Steve Jobs over the next few days, weeks, months, and years. He is the leader we all try to be. The visionary we all dream of being. He will be missed.

Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs. All of us thank you.

Love,
Peter

New York Yankees faked Carl Crawford interest to cost Boston Red Sox

via espn.go.com

I actually had dinner with the agent to pretend that we were actually involved and drive the price up,” Cashman said. “The outfield wasn’t an area of need, but everybody kept writing Crawford, Crawford, Crawford, Crawford. And I was like, ‘I feel like we’ve got Carl Crawford in Brett Gardner, except he costs more than $100 million less, with less experience.’
